As an adult, the thought of learning how to swim was very daunting. I am so thankful and happy to have Kate as my instructor. She is patient, helps you feel comfortable in the water. Explains everything and has a calming voice which makes you feel at ease. I am continuing to work with her and can’t recommend her enough!

I just wanted to send a message to tell you how much my husband and daughter were raving about you when they got home last night! She had so much fun (not that that is the end goal, but it helps) and felt proud of herself for all the things she learned.  You are an outstanding teacher and we are so glad we found you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Do you teach adults, or is it just for kids?

Absolutely — adults of all skill levels are welcome. Swimming lessons help everyone from adults brushing off decades-old swim skills to confident swimmers looking to improve technique, endurance, and efficiency.

Q: I learned as a kid but haven’t been swimming in years. Is it too late to start again?

No — many adult swimmers return to the water after long breaks and make rapid progress. Lessons focus on fundamentals first, then build technique so you feel confident and comfortable.

Q: What does a typical lesson look like?

Lessons are built progressively — from foundational movement and body position to advanced stroke mechanics, breathing drills, and structured swim work.

Q: Do you provide video or stroke analysis?

Personalized stroke assessment is available (separate or paired with coaching), which identifies areas holding you back and includes corrective drills.

Q: Do I need swimming equipment?

Equipment like fins, pull buoys, and paddles may be used when appropriate to reinforce technique and build feel for the water. Feel free to bring your own if you like to get familiar with how to use them as a training tool.

Q: Can lessons help with fitness, triathlon prep, or endurance training?

Yes — personal coaching can be tailored to swim fitness, structured workouts, and specific goals like triathlons or racing.

Q: Will lessons help with open water swimming?

While pool lessons focus on technique and endurance, these skills transfer to open water. You can also discuss open-water strategies as you progress. Many of my current clients are starting their training for the Ironman and Triathlon race season.

New Tab

Q: I’m nervous about swimming as an adult — is that okay?

Totally. Many adult swimmers feel nervous or rusty at first. Swimming lessons are designed to prioritize safety, comfort, and confidence-building, focusing on positive progress that starts where you are and continues at your pace.

Q: I feel embarrassed that I’m slow or out of shape — will that be an issue?

No — all levels are respected, and teaching is judgment-free and supportive. You’re welcome regardless of fitness or experience.
